I am currently sitting in the lounge area of my hostel in Bilbao. After over 24 hours of being in transit, I arrived last night at 8pm local time, feeling the way most 46 year olds feel after 3 flights totalling 14 hours, and 12 more hours of sitting in airports….like shit.
So, I basically took a shower and crashed last night (while everyone else was heading out for dinner). I woke up just before 5am feeling like I needed coffee in the worst kind of way. I managed to be quiet enough (I hope) not to piss off the other 3 girls in my shared room as I got up and headed out to the kitchen and lounge area. Funny…there are guys still coming in from last night while I am down here having my morning coffee. Oh, to be that young!
I began this morning with a post to my other blog (focused on my journey with health, exercise and weight). If you happen to be interested, check it out: http://fitnessimposterblog.wordpress.com
I plan to spend 2 days here in Bilbao, then resume my Camino on Monday with about 10 miles of walking to the town of Portugalete. Today, I need to go get another pilgrim’s passport or, “Credential”, because I left mine at home. I think it simply isn’t possible to travel and not forget something! At least what I forgot is a pretty easy fix. So, first order of business is to go get one today. It will be a great excuse for walking around and exploring.
I think I might stop in at the Guggenheim museum today too. I have actually been to it before, but it has been awhile and I want to take a picture of “Puppy” for my niece. If you aren’t familiar, “Puppy” is a giant puppy sculpture out in front of the Guggenheim, the outside completely covered in flowers.
