So, that knee I hurt in Hawaii that miraculously did not act up last week while I was walking the Camino…kept me awake last night. There is an interesting purple bruise there and the knee is clearly making itself known with every step I take. I walked (hobbled, limped, and shuffled) around Lagos this morning enjoying the beautiful cliffs, caves and rock formations along the ocean. Sunny beaches dotted the trail and I limped my way past many families carrying beach chairs and umbrellas. The walk was nice, but painful.
Right now, I am resting in the hostel with ice on my knee until it is time to go catch my bus to Odeceixe (pronounced oh-de- sesh). Tomorrow I am supposed to begin walking the fisherman’s trail along the cliffs over the Atlantic to the town of Zambujera do Mar (18k, 11 miles). I have some serious doubts about this, given the state of my knee. I am determined to try.
