We still have a few plans for future upgrades, but Rosie is already on her 3rd major road trip (in addition to shorter camping trips). Road trip #1 (summer 2021) was in a van with a bed, fridge, sink, and stove…and that’s about it. The cabinetry wasn’t in yet and I got creative with plastic bins. That trip was in Northern California, Oregon and a tiny bit of Idaho.
During the 21-22 school year, I worked on Rosie many weekends and holiday breaks. Cabinetry, countertops, solar electric and lots of things were customized and installed. Everything that I thought would take an hour or two…took an entire weekend because nothing was as easy as it seems! My goal was to get Rosie ready for the big summer trip…all the way to Alaska and back! That trip is memorialized on this site under “Alaska Road Trip Summer 2022.
During the 22-23 school year, I didn’t do much besides enjoy shorter trips with Rosie during my breaks. I was kind of burnt on van work, so not much got done.
Right now…I’m on another road trip and am currently in North Dakota. This summer’s trip is under “Summer 2023: Tanzania turned into…Road Trip.”
So, here’s some pictures featuring Rosie in use at different stages:
These first pictures are before the cabinetry is finished and with the first bed design. It has since been redesigned for a few reasons: the back blocked the view of the window in couch mode, the design limited the size of the bed, and the seating area in couch mode reduced the platform size since the back monopolized some of the space.
That’s it for now. Coming soon – some video tours and a page with specific design and equipment details.
Thank you for sharing your experiences in designing and redesigning Rosie. Your creativity and hard work are impressive.
Thank you! It was fun to exercise my creative side 🙂 It was nice meeting you and your friend in Yellowstone. I hope you had a great trip!
